ARMO ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS conducts open innovative activities through joint research, including overseas study tours, in order to apply advanced technologies such as DX and AI to the architectural field. In addition, the “Social Problem Solving Working” conducted by the Kajima Group addresses various social issues throughout Japan.
In collaboration with universities, specialized research institutes and companies, we promote open innovation activities such as research on the use of the latest digital technology, program education and practical consultation.
Kajima Group companies are working together to implement solutions to solve social issues in various fields.
A group of companies from Kajima jointly conducted a natural experience training workshop aimed at fostering awareness of the natural environment and biodiversity, networking, and enhancing team-building skills. At the training site, Atema Highlands, activities included fieldwork conducted by local staff involved in ecosystem investigation and conservation efforts, hands-on experience in thinning work for forest conservation, and workshops to contemplate initiatives related to biodiversity.
Under the theme of “Exploring the Potential for Rebranding and Effective Utilization of the Taiko Tateshina Mountain Villa,” 14 participants from seven companies of the KAJIMA Group engaged in a working session aimed at solving social issues. During the working session, each team discussed measures and ideas to realize the identity of the Tateshina Mountain Villa, and underwent a process of training from envisioning scenes they wanted to achieve at the villa to generating specific ideas.
ARMO ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS actively accepts internships for students as an opportunity to experience our company’s work. We offer flexible programs ranging from three-day to one-week programs.
ARMO ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS actively participates in exhibitions sponsored by CAD and other software vendors and related organizations. We also make technical tours overseas to learn about advanced technologies, mainly DX and AI, that can be used for new projects in the architectural field.
At “AutoDesk University 2024” (hereinafter referred to as AU24),
numerous updates were shared regarding Autodesk’s shift from a traditional business model that provides tools to becoming a “platform company,” as well as new features utilizing AI.
The venue was filled with sessions and discussions focused on sustainability topics, such as LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and carbon neutrality. It became clear that addressing these societal challenges requires solutions not just for equipment, but for the entire building and even the whole site.
Throughout the three days, I consistently felt a tremendous energy, including from the participants and the atmosphere of the venue.

At AU24, companies sold add-ins and platforms they developed independently. Notably, a design firm collaborated with others to create add-ins
in the equipment field, which were integrated with Revit for information sharing.
This experience reaffirmed the necessity to establish a policy for BIM development and to take on actual challenges.
Additionally, I felt that cooperation from various parties and exchanges of opinions with AutoDesk are essential for BIM construction.
After participating in AU2024, I visited two design firms located in San Francisco: Solomon Cordwell Buenz and Rutherford + Chekene.
The contractual arrangements differ from those in Japan, and the scope of responsibilities is clear, allowing each firm to have discretionary authority, which facilitates seamless and smooth responses.
I recognized the necessity for our company to build a framework that leverages the characteristics of Japanese general contractors to support architectural design.
